PEACE LILIES IN WINTER: 5 TIPS TO TAKE CARE OF PLANT!

Peace lilies (Spathiphyllum) are popular indoor plants known for their attractive white blooms and air-purifying properties. Taking care of peace lilies during the winter months requires some adjustments to their care routine due to lower light and humidity levels. Here are five tips to help you care for your peace lilies in winter

Adjust Watering

During the winter, peace lilies tend to require less water because they experience slower growth and reduced evaporation. Allow the top inch or so of the soil to dry out before watering. Be careful not to overwater, as this can lead to root rot. Always use room-temperature water to avoid shocking the plant.

Monitor Humidity

Peace lilies thrive in high humidity, but indoor air can become dry in the winter due to heating systems. To maintain a suitable environment, mist your peace lily regularly with a spray bottle or use a humidity tray filled with water and pebbles near the plant. You can also place a humidifier in the room to increase moisture levels.

Reduce Fertilization

Peace lilies benefit from regular fertilization during the growing season (spring and summer). However, in the winter, their growth slows down. Reduce the frequency of fertilization to once every 6-8 weeks with a balanced, diluted liquid fertilizer. Avoid over-fertilization, as it can harm the plant.

Provide Indirect Light

Peace lilies prefer bright, indirect light. In winter, the sunlight is weaker and shorter in duration. Place your peace lily near a north or east-facing window to ensure it receives adequate, filtered light. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Avoid Overcrowding

In a shared indoor space, prevent overcrowding around your peace lily. It needs airflow to thrive and avoid pests. Space out plants, and ensure nothing shades or obstructs its indirect sunlight. This keeps your peace lily healthy in winter.
