Assam PSC Recruitment 2020 Overview

Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) has released an official notification regarding the recruitment of 40 Assistant Professor and Librarian vacancy in the various Govt. Colleges of Assam.

The interested and eligible candidates may apply online.

Assam PSC Recruitment 2020

1. Assistant Professor in Haflong Govt. College, Haflong

Name of Post: Assistant Professor

No. of Posts: 22 (Twenty two)

Department: Haflong Govt. College, Haflong

Salary: UGC 7th Scale of Pay – Rs.57,700/- to Rs. 1,82,400/- p.m. plus other allowances as admissible as per rules from time to time.

Educational Qualification:

i. Good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master’s Degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University.

ii. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/ SET.

iii. Candidates, who are, or have been awarded a PhD. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of PhD Degree) Regulations, 2009, shall be exempted from the recruitment of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/ SLET/ SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/ Colleges/ Institutions.

iv. NET/ SLET/ SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/ SLET/ SET is not conducted

v. A relaxation of 5% will be provided at the graduate and master’s level for the Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe/ Differently-abled (Physically and visually differently-abled) categories for the purpose of eligibility and for assessing good academic record during direct recruitment to teaching positions. The eligibility marks of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible, based on only the qualifying marks without including any grace mark procedures.

vi. A relaxation of 5% may be provided, from 55% to 50% of the marks to the PhD. Degree holders, who have obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19 September 1991.

Age Limit:

The candidates should not be less than 21 years of age and not more than 38 years of age as on 01-01-2020. The upper age limit is relaxable

(i) By 5 years for SC/ST candidates, i.e. up to 43 years

(ii) By 3 years for OBC/MOBC candidates i.e. up to 41 years as per Govt. Notification No. ABP. 6/2016/9 dated Dispur the 25th April 2018.

(iii) For Persons with Disabilities (PWD) by 10 years irrespective of SC/ST/OBC and General Category of candidates as per Govt. Notification No. ABP 144/95/121 dated Dispur the 28th October 2015.

The age limit of the candidates will be calculated on the basis of the Matriculation/ HSLC Admit Card/ Certificate issued by a recognized Board/ Council and no other document shall be accepted in lieu of the mentioned documents.

2. Assistant Professor in Kokrajhar Govt. College, Kokrajhar

Name of Post: Assistant Professor

No. of Posts: 15 (Fifteen)

Department: Kokrajhar Govt. College, Kokrajhar

Salary: UGC 7th Scale of Pay – Rs.57,700/- to Rs. 1,82,400/- p.m. plus other allowances as admissible as per rules from time to time.

Educational Qualification:

i. Good academic record with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master’s Degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University.

ii. Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/ SET.

(5% marks are relaxable to the candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ PWD category in the concerned subject.)

(ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by UGC like SLET/ SET or who are or have been awarded a PhD degree in accordance with University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/PhD Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time as the case may be.

Provided further, candidates registered for the PhD programme prior to July 11, 2009, shall be governed by the provisions of the then-existing Ordinance/ Bye-laws/ Regulations of the Institutions awarding the degree and such PhD candidates shall be exempted from the recruitment of NET/ SLET/ SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/ Colleges/ Institutions subject to the fulfilment of the following conditions:

(a) PhD degree of the candidate awarded in regular mode only
(b) Evaluation of PhD thesis by at least two external examiners
(c) Open PhD, Viva-Voce of the candidates had been conducted
(d) Candidate has published two research papers from his/ her PhD work out of which at least one must be in a refereed journal
(e) Candidate has made at least two presentations in conference/seminars based on his/ her PhD work
(f) (a) to (e) as above are to be certified by the Registrar/ Dean (Academic Affairs)

(iii) NET/ SLET/ SET shall also not be required for such Master Programs in discipline for which NET/ SLET/ SET is not conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/ SET.

OR

PhD degree from University/Institution with a ranking in top 500 in the World University ranking (at any time) by Quacquarelii Symonds (QS), the Times Higher Education(THE) and Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai).

Age Limit:

The candidates should not be less than 21 years of age and not more than 38 years of age as on 01-01-2020. The upper age limit is relaxable

(i) By 5 years for SC/ST candidates, i.e. up to 43 years.

Educational Qualification:

(i) A master degree in Library Science/ Information Science/ Documentation Science or an equivalent professional degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and a consistently good academic record with knowledge of computerization of Library. 5% marks are relaxable to the candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ PWD category in the concerned subject.

(ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/ SET or who are or have been awarded a PhD. Degree in accordance with the University Grant Commission (minimum standards and procedure for award of M.Phil/Ph.D. degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time as the case may be.
