Eligibility Criteria For UPSC IES Recruitment
Educational Qualification:
For Indian Economic Service (IES):
- A post-graduate degree in Economics or Applied Economics or Business Economics or Econometrics from a recognized university.
For Indian Statistical Service (ISS):
- A bachelor’s degree with Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics as one of the subjects or
- A Master’s degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics from a recognized university.
Physical Standards:
- Candidates must meet the physical standards specified in Appendix III of the Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2024 regulations published on 10th April, 2024, to be eligible for admission.
Nationality:
- Citizen of India
- Subject of Nepal or Bhutan
- Tibetan refugee arriving before January 1, 1962, intending to settle permanently in India
- Person of Indian origin migrating from specified countries, intending to settle permanently in India
- Candidates from Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet (before 1962), or specific countries need a certificate of eligibility from the Government of India.
- Candidates needing eligibility certificates can apply for the exam but receive appointment offers only after obtaining the necessary certificate from the Government of India.
Age Limit For UPSC IES/ ISS Posts
The candidates must be between 21 to 30 years old as on 1st August, 2024.
Category-Wise Age Relaxation:
- SC/ ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- PWD: 10 year
