Vikings Release Notable Running Back Ahead Of Week 1 Matchup

The Minnesota Vikings backfield was always going to look different after the team released star running back Dalvin Cook

But it just got a little bit smaller ahead of heir season-opener.

According to ESPN's Field Yates, the Vikings released running back Myles Gaskin ahead of Sunday's opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Vikings only recently signed Gaskin after his release by the Miami Dolphins at the end of August.

The move leaves the Vikings with just three running backs on the active roster: Starter Alexander Pattison, fullback C.J.Ham and backup halfback Ty Chandler

The Vikings will likely promote a player from their practice squad or sign a free agent to fill the empty roster spot.

Last year Gaskin played just four games and had a grand total of 54 yards from scrimmage
